This three hour short course provides information to support workers to effectively assist individuals with their daily management of diabetes. Students will learn how to check and record blood sugar levels and will learn strategies to manage a person with diabetes in an emergency situation; this is an important component of support workers role and is a integral part of duty of care. Students will also be able to identify the different types of diabetes, causes and symptoms.
A practical demonstration of the equipment will be provided.
